and perhaps a singing bird will come.

My Life with Trees
I have always loved trees – the willows under whose shade I read my way through lazy childhood summers (after chores and baseball games); the first red buds in spring; the magic of hillsides scarlet maple against the evergreens along the river which took us in October to my grandparents’ house. Now I’m immersed in the beauty of trees whose bare skeletons speak to me through late autumn and winter. Through current reading, I am learning how the evolution of trees created enough oxygen on the earth to make animal life possible and how the future of trees is intertwined with the future of humanity.
